After a bunch of teasers in the previous week, Xiaomi has officially unveiled its newest selfie-centric series of smartphones comprising of two models named the Redmi Y1 and Redmi Y1 Lite. Both these phones are entry-level offerings with the focus on selfies but the former one is obviously the more premium offering.

Starting with the Xiaomi Redmi Y1, it exactly same as the Redmi 4 except for the better front camera and a larger display. It has a 16-megapixel camera on the front with f/2.0 aperture and LED flash to help you in low-light situations. There is also a feature called Beautify 3.0 which Xiaomi says will help users in beautifying their selfies and make them look better. On the back, you will find a 13-megapixel camera with phase detection autofocus, HDR, and f/2.2 aperture.

It has a 5.5-inch HD IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass. Under the hood, there is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor with the option to choose from 3GB/32GB and 4GB/64GB configurations. It is the first-ever Xiaomi smartphone to come with a dedicated microSD card slot which no more hassle of choosing between using two SIM cards or one SIM card and a microSD card. The whole package is powered by a 3080mAh battery and will be running MIUI 8 based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. Xiaomi said it will be receiving an upgrade to the new MIUI 9 soon. It also has a fingerprint scanner on the back.

The Redmi Y1 has been priced at Rs. 8,999 for the 3GB/32GB model and Rs. 10,999 for the 4GB/64GB model. It will go on sale starting November 8th via Amazon India and online store.

As for the Redmi Y1 Lite, it is aimed at offering bigger display and better performance for an affordable price. It has been priced at Rs. 6,999 and will be coming with below-listed specifications:
