Xiaomi has officially launched the Mi MIX 2 smartphone in India at an event held earlier today. The unique thing about the phone is its bezel-less display with 18:9 aspect ratio. It is actually the successor to last year’s Mi MIX which started the trend of bezel-less smartphones which has been followed by the likes LG G6, Samsung Galaxy S8, and even the Google Pixel 2 XL.
The Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 sports a 5.99-inch Full HD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) display with DCI-P3 color gamut support and almost no bezels which is a bit smaller from its predecessor’s 6.4-inch display. Under the hood, it has the Qualcomm’s latest and fastest Snapdragon 835 processor. While Xiaomi launched a bunch of variants in China, it has brought only the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage model in India. There is no microSD card support available on the phone but considering the internal storage, it should not be a problem.
There is a 12-megapixel rear camera with Sony IMX386 sensor, f/2.0 aperture, 4-axis OIS, 4K video recording, and dual-LED flash. On the front, you will get a 5-megapixel camera with facial recognition and 1080p video recording support which resides on the bottom chin. The whole package is powered by a 3400mAh battery with fast charging support. It will be running MIUI 9 based on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. Other features include a fingerprint scanner and USB Type-C port but no 3.5mm headphone jack. It is made up of ceramic material and sports a 18K gold ring around the rear camera.
Xiaomi has priced at the Mi MIX 2 at Rs. 35,999 which makes it a direct competitor to the OnePlus 5 and Nokia 8 in the country. While the actual sales will start from the first week of November, the company will hold a special preview sale on October 17th on Flipkart and Mi.com online store. Once it becomes available normally starting next month, users will be able to get it from offline Mi Home stores and other third-party retailers as well.
