The Xiaomi Mi A1 Android One smartphone is finally receiving the September 2017 Android security patch. Google published the patch at the start of the month and it’s about the end, but still, it’s good to know that Xiaomi is keeping up with the promise of regular security updates.
The September security patch update weighs at 1059.6 MB which is just over 1GB. This is the reason we would recommend you connect to a WiFi before downloading the update. As you can see in the screenshot, the update notification doesn’t mention any other specific changes except for the mention of September 2017 security update, improvements to performance, and bug fixes. But it should include the fix for critical BlueBorne Bluetooth attack which has the potential of affecting a device with just Bluetooth on. It means it can affect devices without having to wait for pairing with the Bluetooth. This is another reason to install the update as soon as it arrives on your particular device.
We are currently downloading the update and once the installation part is done, we will look for any other changes that the update might have added and update this article accordingly.
For a quick reminder, the Mi A1 was launched in India earlier this month and it was running August security patch out of the box.
