In an event held in China, Vivo announced the launch of two new smartphones: the Vivo Xplay 5 Elite and Xplay 5. As the naming suggests, the Elite is the ‘premium’ one between the two smartphones and also the world’s first smartphone with 6GB RAM. Additionally, both the phones come with dual-curved displays.
The Vivo Xplay 5 Elite sports a 5.43-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED dual-curved display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 and full metallic build. Under the hood, it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset coupled with 6GB of RAM. It comes with a 16MP rear shooter with phase detection autofocus and dual-tone LED flash. On the front, it has an 8MP camera. The phone offers 128GB of internal storage, 3600mAh battery, and Funtouch OS based on Android Lollipop v5.1. There is also a fingerprint scanner at the back.
On the other hand, the Vivo Xplay 5 comes with the same set of specifications and design except for the processor and Hi-Fi chip configuration. The smartphone has Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 SoC instead of the Snapdragon 820.
The Vivo Xplay 5 will be available for purchase starting March 8 for a price of CNY 3698 (about $564 or Rs. 38,223).
