Sony has launched its current flagship Xperia XZ1 in India at an event held earlier today. The unveiling of the flagship took place only a few days after the company announced a new mid-ranger Xperia XA1 Plus. As for the flagship itself, it was first introduced to the world at this year’s IFA event which means the Indian launch has happened within a month of the global announcement.

The two major features of the Xperia XZ1 are Android 8.0 Oreo out of the A box and a 3D scanning camera. It is currently the only smartphone in the country which runs Oreo right from the first boot, no update needed. As for the camera, it is a 19-megapixel Sony Exmos RS sensor with support for 3D scanning. It also has Motion Eye support which means you can use it to shoot ultra slow-motion videos at 960fps as well as 4K footage. Other features include 5-axis stabilization, predictive hybrid autofocus, and dual-LED flash.

The Xperia XZ1 sports a 5.2-inch Full HD display with HDR support and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 along with Sony’s own Triluminos display and X-Reality engine. Under the hood, it has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage on offer. The whole package is powered by a 2700mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging support. And as we have seen with many Xperia devices, it has the fingerprint scanner mounted on the side.

Sony has priced the Xperia XZ1 at Rs. 44,990 in India with availability via online and offline stores starting today itself. There are also a few launch offers including a Rs. 1000 discount on the purchase of Style Stand Cover worth Rs. 3490. The flagship is also available at 0% EMI and with 5% cashback if bought using HDFC or ICICI credit/debit card.
