Google announced the Android N Developer Preview yesterday which was followed by the start of Android Beta Program. For the uninitiated ones, it is a program which will help you get Android N builds as OTA updates. Google has started the program to make it easier for developers and Android enthusiasts to receive future builds. It will prevent you from the hassle of downloading the image file and then connecting your Android device to PC via a USB for flashing it.
So if you were wondering how to signup for the Android Beta Program, here is your simple guide to be a member of the program. But before you proceed, do make sure that you have at least of the compatible devices which include the Nexus 6, Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, Nexus 9, Nexus Player, Pixel C, and General Mobile 4G (Android One). Unfortunately, there is no Nexus 5 this time around. Once you have got your hands on a compatible device, follow the steps to signup for the Android Beta Program:
- Visit the Android Beta Program page and log-in using the same Google account which you are using on the compatible device.
- It will show you the list of eligible devices and you simply have to click on Enroll Device option in front of the device which you want to use for receiving Android N preview builds.
- You will be asked to accept terms and conditions and once you have done that, you need to click on Join Beta option.
After this, all you have to do is to wait for a notification on your enrolled device which will let you install the latest Android N preview build. If you don’t get the notification right away, wait for some time as Google has said that it may take up to 24 hours for the update to arrive on the enrolled device(s).
