We have heard a lot of rumors, reports, and leaks regarding the upcoming Galaxy S8 flagship so far. But this is the time for the biggest and most significant Galaxy S8 leak comprising of phone’s live image, almost full specifications, and a possible launch date along with pricing details. And since this new leak is coming from one of the most reliable tipster Evan Blass (@evleaks), there are not so many reasons to doubt them. So, let’s get started.

Samsung Galaxy S8 Specifications:

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is said to arrive in two models which we have also heard on previous occasions as well. As per Blass, these two models will be having 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch (most likely be named Galaxy S8 Plus) Quad HD Super AMOLED “edge” displays. You can see that even the smaller variant has a bigger display than the Galaxy S7 edge which is the bigger variant from last year. Both models are technically phablets this time. Interestingly, the phone will have 83% of its front panel covered by glass which means an uncommon aspect ratio of 18.5:9.

Under the hood, the Galaxy S8 will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 in some regions and by Samsung’s own Exynos processor in others. For the sake of comparison, the newer Galaxy flagship is said to be 11% faster than Galaxy S7 and 23% faster when it comes to handling graphic intensive processes. It will also be 20% more efficient in power consumption.

On the camera front, Samsung has opted for the same 12MP resolution for the Galaxy S8 rear shooter which we saw in the Galaxy S7. But for the selfie shooter, it has bumped up the resolution count to 8MP from 5MP this year. Both rear and front shooter will be having a f/1.7 aperture. The interesting part is that the Galaxy S8’s rear shooter is said to feature OCR-like capabilities. This will allow users to point the camera at any object, text or something else and it will scan that object to show relevant information.

The Galaxy S8 will be offering 4GB RAM and 64GB storage for the base model with support for microSD cards up to 256GB. The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus are said to feature 3000mAh and 3500mAh battery respectively. On the software front, both models will run Android Nougat out of the box.

Samsung Galaxy S8 Features:

Talking about other Galaxy S8 features, it will come with Bixby AI assistant like Google Assistant on Pixel smartphones and Siri on iPhones. This new virtual assistant from Samsung is said to be smarter and more powerful than many other competitors out there. The phone is even rumored to sport a dedicated button for triggering Bixby.

And it’s not just the assistant, Samsung is also reported to be implementing Microsoft’s Continuum-like functionality. It is said to be named as Samsung DeX which will allow users to have desktop-like usability after connecting the phone to a monitor and an HDMI-enabled dock. Samsung will be selling the dock separately.

The Galaxy S8 models will come with a USB Type-C port for charging and yes, the 3.5mm headphone jack is still there. This is contrary to previous rumors suggesting no headphone jack like it is the case with iPhone 7. But interestingly, there’s no physical home button on the front panel this time because it’s mostly only glass on the front. Even the fingerprint scanner has been moved to the back. It is also said to feature force touch like capability on the lower part of the display which will allow users to do different tasks by varying the amount of the pressure.

Samsung Galaxy S8 Launch Date, Availability, and Pricing:

While we previously heard that Samsung has delayed the launch until April, the Blass’ report mentions that the Galaxy S8 launch has been scheduled for March 29th in New York City. The delay in the launch is said to be because Samsung does not want a repeat of the Galaxy Note 7 debacle. Both Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus will go on sale from April 21st for €799 (Rs. 58,217) and €899 (Rs. 65,503) in the Europe.
