Xiaomi has now started to release Redmi Note 4 Nougat update for users in India as well as from other regions of the world. The rollout has started about a week after Flipkart’s promotional banner confirmed that the same was about to happen anytime soon.
The much-awaited update is being rolled as an OTA to Redmi Note 4 users in the form of MIUI 188.8.131.52 release. On successful download and installation, your unit will be upgraded to Android 7.0 Nougat from Android 6.0 Marshmallow which it has been running since the launch. The release is expected to be happening in phases which mean your particular unit might take some time to receive the same.
The size of the Redmi Note 4 Nougat update is about 1.3GB which means you are advised to connect to WiFi before starting the download process. This will prevent you from incurring any unwanted data charges if you are on a limited data plan. Once the download is done, make sure that your phone has at least 50% battery left before going for the installation step. After the installation, your phone will boot automatically and you will be able to make use of Nougat features like split-screen mode, better notification management, improved doze mode, quick switching between most recently used two apps, and more. It is worth mentioning that Redmi Note 4 will still be receiving an upgrade to MIUI 9 once it becomes available for the device.
