Google has started to push the November security patch update for both Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 devices. While the update includes the usual dose bug fixes and latest security patches, it also has fixes for some of the known display issues as promised by Google last month.
The major change included in the update is that it adds new display color profiles to both Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. Thee are basically three new color profiles named Boosted, Natural, and Saturated. You will get these options by visiting Settings->Display->Colors.
The first one is simply the replacement for older “Vivid Colors” profile and the second one is about offering natural colors. The last one is the one which offers a huge difference in the color production but, as reported by Android Central, is still not as bright and vibrant as many other phones like the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. It is speculated that even though Pixel 2 XL now has a Saturated color profile, Google’s is still aiming to offer realistic colors instead of blowing them up to offer more brightness and vibrancy than the reality.
Google is also said to have made some tweaks to aspects like display brightness to limit display burn-in on the Pixel 2 XL. The latest update also fixes Pixel 2’s “clicking sound” issue in the earpiece. It should be noted that more such fixes will be implemented with December security update on both devices.
