The Nokia 8 is a fairly new smartphone as its official launch is just over a month old. The flagship was made official with Android 7.1.1 Nougat and a promise to Android Oreo but now it seems like, the update will arrive on the phone sooner than later. HMD Global’s Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas has shared a couple of images on Twitter teasing the Oreo update beta for the Nokia 8.
In the images, he can be seen holding a Nokia 8 unit showing the notification for a new update which is none other than for the Android Oreo beta. The notification page further shows that the update weighs a whopping 1.3GB in size. As for what’s new in the update, it mentions nothing except the text Upgrade to Android Oreo Beta.

It goes without saying that this is an internal beta testing restricted to a handful of people. There are no words regarding either public beta testing or the mass release of the latest Android version. But considering that HMD Global has started to beta test the software and a Nokia 8 unit was spotted on GFXBench and Geekbench running Android 8.0 Oreo, it is safe to assume that the update is not too far away.
HMD Global has already confirmed that all Nokia smartphones including Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and Nokia 6 will be upgraded to Android Oreo. Considering that all these phones run stock Android, we can expect update rollout quite sooner for these devices as well.
