A good news for Android users. Google is finally ready with the update containing the new emoji that were introduced by Apple with iOS 9.1 update in October earlier this year. The announcement of the arrival of the new emoji was made by Hiroshi Lockheimer, Senior Vice President, Android, Chrome OS, and Chromecast via a tweet.

The new emoji will arrive on Nexus devices first starting next week. The new update is expected to be a part of Google keyboard and font, but it may also arrive as a full system update. Lockeheimer further said that the fonts and other tech details have been shared with other OEMs. But as you know each OEM has a different schedule of rolling out updates, so it is not really sure when devices other than Nexus will receive them. It may take days, weeks, and even months.

When Apple had released the emoji update for iOS devices, there were more than 150 emoji that included middle finger, taco, animals, vehicles, skin tones, and much more. In the case of Android, we do not really know how many of them will be there. We have only seen a crab, unicorn, and a lion as of now, but we will let you know as soon as the update will reach our devices.
