If you are a someone who owns any of the Moto X series smartphones, you must be waiting for the Nougat update quite eagerly. While Motorola Germany’s Twitter handle earlier confirmed the update to arrive for the Moto X Play by the end of January, it has now revealed that Nougat update for Moto X series has been delayed until May.
Motorola Germany confirmed the new possible release time for the update rollout in response to a user’s query. It tweeted, “Unfortunately the update for the Moto X series will be delayed until May. Sorry for any inconveniences.”

It means there are still four months to go before Moto X users can expect to see Nougat on their devices. As per the list released by Motorola last year, it has plans for upgrading the Moto X Style, Moto X Play, and Moto X Force to the latest software version.
At the moment, Motorola has upgraded only Moto Z, Moto G4, and Moto G4 Plus units in a few selected regions. Even the update for the Moto Z Play has been delayed until next month.
If you are a Moto X series user who does not want to wait until May for Nougat, you can always go for third-party ROMs like LineageOS for the upgrade. It is currently available for download for the Moto X Pure (clark) and Moto X Play (lux).
