Motorola has officially launched its first flagship for the year, the Moto Z2 Force. It has been made official in the United States for the moment but will soon be coming to other markets including India. It is a successor to last year’s Moto Z Force and will be going on sale starting August 10th via all major US carriers as well as unlocked.

The Moto Z2 Force sports a 5.5-inch Quad HD AMOLED display with Motorola’s Shatterproof technology. This is the reason that the phone comes with a 4-year warranty against the cracking or shattering of the display and the embedded lens. Under the hood, it has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. But for other countries, especially China, it is said to feature 6GB of RAM with 128GB of internal storage. The good thing is that both models support microSD cards for storage expansion.

It has a 12-megapixel dual rear camera system where one is an RGB color sensor and another one is a monochrome sensor. It features f/2.0 aperture with phase detection autofocus and laser autofocus along with dual-LED flash. On the front, there is a 5-megapixel 85-degree wide-angle shooter with f/2.2 aperture.

The whole package is powered by a 2730mAh battery (fast charging supported) which is smaller than the predecessor. It helped Motorola made the Moto Z2 Play even slimmer than last time which is just 6.1mm thick this time around. On the software front, it will be shipping with Android 7.1.1 Nougat which will be closer to stock experience like we are familiar with on Motorola smartphones. Like every other Moto Z series smartphone, this one also supports Moto Mods including the newly launched Moto 360 camera mode for making 360-degree videos.

The Moto Z2 Play has been made available in Super Black and Fine Gold color options at a starting price of $799. If interested, you can already pre-order the smartphone from T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T, and Verizon. The unlocked model has also been launched which is available via Motorola website.
