Motorola has officially confirmed that it has started to roll out Android Nougat update to the Moto Z and Moto Z Force. It is a worldwide upgrade which means it will be released for both locked and unlocked variants of Motorola’s this year’s flagship phones.The update has been model
The update has been made official after a month when Motorola announced that these phones including Moto G4 series will be upgraded to Nougat before the end of this year. It further announced that with the Nougat update, both Moto Z and Moto Z Force are now compatible with Google’s Daydream VR platform. It said that:
“These are the first smartphones from another manufacturer to be recognized by Google as Daydream-ready devices – a distinction given to phones that have been certified for the Daydream platform and are built for VR with high-resolution displays, ultra-smooth graphics and high-fidelity sensors for precise head tracking.”
It means if you have a Daydream compatible VR headset, then you will be able to experience the enhanced and immersive world of Daydream VR platform. For example, you can choose to buy Google’s Daydream View VR headset but it’s currently available for purchase only in the United States.
Motorola is yet to post release notes for the Moto Z Nougat update but you can expect to see features like new notification panel, new quick settings toggle, split-screen support, and improved Doze mode among others.
It is an OTA update which means you will see an update notification as soon as it becomes available for your particular Moto Z or Moto Z Force unit. Alternatively, you can also check for it manually by going to Settings->About Phone->System Updates.
