Motorola announced its list of smartphones that will receive Nougat upgrade about a couple of months ago. It worked on the list and has already started Nougat soak testing for Moto G4 Plus and has even updated the Moto Z and Moto Z Force. And now, it seems like the next device in the line is the Moto X Play.

But the interesting thing is that it is quite likely that Motorola will skip the Nougat 7.0 update and upgrade the Moto X Play directly to Android Nougat 7.1. As spotted on a recent GFXBench listing, Motorola’s last year upper mid-ranger with model number XT1562 has been listed with Android 7.1 in the OS section.

While the exact date for the final stable release is unknown, the listing hints that the Moto X Play might get updated to Nougat pretty soon. And if Motorola does jump to the Android 7.1 and releases it within next one month or so, it might even become the only smartphone besides Google’s Pixel and Nexus devices to run Nougat 7.1. This listing also means that Motorola might even jump to Android 7.1 for other devices on the list.

We will keep you updated as any more information regarding Moto X Play Nougat update appears.
