Have you ever heard of Letv? If your answer is no, then we don’t blame you. Letv is a quite big Chinese Internet company and it forayed into the smartphone market about a year ago. It has released a few smartphones so far which are referred to as “Superphones” and has also entered the Indian market. But the history of the company is not the topic of discussion today instead it is way more interesting and even quite unexpected.

At the CES 2016, Qualcomm has announced that the Letv Le Max Pro will be the first smartphone to feature Snapdragon 820 chipset. In case you have been under the rocks recently, Snapdragon 820 is the successor to Snapdragon 810 processor. It is not known when the smartphone will be available for purchase, but it is expected to in the first half of 2016.

Additionally, the Le Max Pro will also be the first commercial smartphone to come with Snapdragon Sense ID fingerprint technology. It is a biometric-based fingerprint technology and is said to be more reliable than the current capacitive-based tech. It is capable of differentiating between an actual finger and a spoof, thus providing better security.

As for the spec sheet, the Le Max Pro sports a 6.33-inch QHD display. It is available in 32GB/64GB/128GB storage options with 4GB RAM. The phone has a 21MP camera and will ship with EUI based on Android Marshmallow. The whole package is powered by a 3000mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 2.0. It means you will be able to charge the phone from 0% to 60% in 30 minutes.

Talking about other smartphones to come with Snapdragon 820, the list includes the likes of Xiaomi Mi 5, LG G5, and Samsung Galaxy S7.
