Huawei CEO Richard Yu has confirmed that the Huawei Watch 2 will be launched at MWC 2017 in Barcelona. It will be a successor to the original Huawei Watch which was unveiled more than a year ago in 2015.
Yu made the announcement on Weibo where he also shared a teaser image for the launch. The image shows a model in sports apparel and wearing the watch which can’t be seen properly.
The details regarding the Huawei Watch 2 are quite scarce at the moment but previous rumors have hinted at a sportier look for the new watch. This also seems to be falling in line with the teaser image posted above. There is also a tagline “Made for free spirits” which is another indication towards the sporty lifestyle.
If we talk about the original Huawei Watch, it was more about classic design approach and more like a traditional watch. It became successful in impressing a lot of users as well as critics and was one of the best Android Wear smartwatches of that time.
And since Huawei Watch 2 will be a successor, there is a high probability that it will be running Android Wear 2.0 out of the box. The latest Android Wear iteration was announced by Google last week alongside the LG Watch Style and Sport smartwatches.
Other than this, Huawei will also be launching the P10 smartphone at MWC event in Barcelona.
