Google has officially launched the first Pixel smartphones named as the Google Pixel and Pixel XL respectively. Both the smartphones feature the same set of specifications and come with similar features except for the difference in the screen size and battery capacity.

Google has opted for aluminium unibody design along with polished glass combination for the build and design of new Pixel phones. Both the phones are powered by quad-core 2.1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor coupled with 4GB LPDDR4 RAM. On the back, there is a 12.3MP camera with f/2.0 aperture with a large pixel size. Google claims it to be the best smartphone camera ever while showing a DxOMark score of 89 which is the highest for any smartphone till date. As for taking selfies, the phones feature an 8MP camera.


On the storage front, the Pixel will be available in 32GB and 128GB options along with free unlimited storage of Google Photos for storing your photos and videos in high-resolution. The phones also feature USB Type-C port, fingerprint scanner, 3.5mm headphone jack, and Bluetooth v4.2. These are also the first Daydream-ready smartphones along with inbuilt Google Assistant integration.

For the differentiator, the Google Pixel sports a 5-inch Full HD display with a 2770mAh battery. While the Google Pixel XL comes with a 5.5-inch Quad HD display with a 3450mAh battery. Both the phones support fast charging which Google claims to offer 7 hours of battery life within 15 minutes of charge. And as for software, both Pixel phones run on Android Nougat out of the box and will come pre-installed with Google Allo and Duo apps.


While the Pixel and Pixel XL phones are up for preorders in the United States, Canada, Australia, Germany, and the United Kingdom right now; they will be coming to India on October 13th. Google has partnered with Flipkart, Reliance Digital, and Chroma Retail for selling the Pixel phones in the country.

As for pricing, the Google Pixel starts at $649 and the Pixel XL at $749 but for the Indian market, the prices will start from Rs. 57,000.
