Google has quietly launched a food delivery and home services app named Areo in India. It is basically a hyper-local app aimed at helping users in ordering food and get most of the household work done without having to go outside of their house.

Gooogle Areo app is currently operational in Bangalore and Mumbai and offers services via a number of hyper-local startups. These include brands like Faasos, Freshmenu, and Box8 for food delivery and companies like Zimmber and UrbanClap for home services like local electricians, painters, cleaners, plumbers, and more.

The app features different categories and a search bar to help you find what you are looking for. You can easily go through all the service providers, check reviews, and schedule an appointment/place order as per your preference. It currently supports credit/debit cards, netbanking, and cash on delivery as payment methods.

It should be noted that Google is acting as an aggregator here and all those services will be provided by respective service provider. Even though Google did not make any official announcement regarding the launch of Areo, it did send the following statement to Livemint:

“We are constantly experimenting with ways to better serve our users in India. In this case, Aero makes everyday chores and ordering food easier by bringing together useful local services like ordering food or hiring a cleaner in one place.”
