The BlackBerry Priv, first-ever Android smartphone from BlackBerry, has been launched in India. The smartphone combines Android with the best of BlackBerry to give you the best of both the worlds. However, if you were thinking of buying the phone then you might be a little disappointed because of the pricing. BlackBerry has priced the smartphone for Rs. 69,990 (about $925) which is quite expensive especially if you compare it to its pricing of $699 in the USA. It will be available via Amazon India from January 30.
As for the specifications, the BlackBerry Priv sports a 5.4-inch Quad HD AMOLED display with a pixel density of 540ppi. It is a dual-curved display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4. Under the hood, it has a 64-bit hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor coupled with 3GB of RAM. The phone offers 32GB of internal storage with support for expansion up to 2TB via microSD card. It also features a physical slider QWERTY keyboard which can be slid out whenever required.
On the camera front, the BlackBerry Priv has an 18MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, dual-tone LED flash, OIS, phase detection autofocus, and 4k video recording support. There is also a 2MP front-facing camera with support for HD video recording. The whole package is powered by a 3410mAh battery which, as per BlackBerry, can get you going for 22.5 hours under ‘mixed usage’. It ships with Android Lollipop v5.1.1 with plans of upgrading it to Marshmallow in future.
